Inspiration and Concept
The design was developed by our Carpet Studio based on a bas-relief fragment from ancient Egyptian wall décor. The loop pile section mimics weathered stone etched with ancient hieroglyphics. This effect is achieved with exclusive British yarn twisted from three differently colored threads, creating the look of aged sandstone.
Hand Carving and Symbolism
The main section of the rug is crafted using V-tuft cut pile with intricate hand carving depicting the sun – as it might have been envisioned by the Pharaohs themselves. The palette is kept in two soft beige tones, as if faded by centuries of scorching desert sunlight.
Style and Use
This rug perfectly complements interiors with ancient Egyptian décor elements. It also harmonizes with loft-style spaces or Victorian interiors, reflecting the era of great archaeological discoveries in Egypt.
